Shashemene Jamaican School  (Ethiopia)

Eric Lafforgue:
In 1948 Emperor Haile Selassie I donated 500 acres of his private land to allow members of the Rastafari movement, Ethiopian World Federation officers and members and other settlers from Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean to go to Ethiopia. Nowadays, some families still live there, and have even a school in town.

I’m not Rastafarian, but I really want to check out this town when I (eventually) visit Ethiopia. Diaspora is fascinating.

I am looking to bring about a positive impact to the art scene through Educational and Inspirational art -plain and simple.
